Doggy Day Care

What is doggy day care, and how does it work?

Whether you’re at work or you just want to give your dog a fun day out, doggy day care is akin to a Children’s Nursery Service for your dog or pup. Whilst here, your dog or pup will have a fun-filled day, socialising with dogs of similar age and ability, enjoying our glorious paddocks and activities, as well as receiving lots of attention from our loving team.

Do you offer a home collection and drop-off service, and do I need to be at home?

We offer home collection and return in our custom fitted, air-conditioned Fun Buses. Your dog will ride in style, ahead of their big day out! You do not need to be home when we collect and return. We hold keys and codes, as well as following procedures that you specify for your dog and your home.

Do you accept puppies, and what age can they start?

Yes, puppies are more than welcome at Acres 4 Dogs (how could we say no!). Your puppy can come to us as their second round of vaccinations is effective. Usually this is around 11-12 weeks. We have dedicated puppy paddocks and cabins, and all of our pups are carefully exercised and rested according to their age and breed.

Can I visit the facility before enrolling my dog?

Yes, you can visit the facility first to make sure you’re completely happy with Acres 4 Dogs. In fact, we believe it is important to visit any doggy day care facility, while the dogs are in session, and before enrolling your dog our pup.

Is there a contract and am I tied in?

During the first month you can cancel without notice at any time. After the first month you are free to cancel at any time with thirty-days’ notice. There is no minimum contract term or ‘tie in’.

Do you offer a trial?

Yes, we offer a free taster day and a no commitment, one month trial.

Do I need to book regular days, or can I book on an ad-hoc basis?

We ask that you choose at least one fixed weekly day. However, this can be swapped on occasion (subject to availability) and you can book additional ad-hoc days.

How do you ensure dogs are grouped appropriately?

We have multiple paddocks to ensure our dogs are grouped with similar ages, breeds, energy levels and abilities. We will get to know your dog and find the group of friends that suits them.

Will my dog have access to heating and shelter?

Yes. Our dogs have constant, free access in and out of our heated cabins.

Will my dog be supervised at all times?

Yes. Your dog will be under the constant supervision of our experienced team.

Do you accept all breeds?

We accept most breeds but not all. We believe in setting all dogs up for success and in our extensive experience, some breeds simply don’t thrive in or are not suited to our daycare environment.

Does my dog need to be well trained?

Your dog does not need to be well trained, but we are unable to take dogs who act aggressively or whose play may be considered unsafe or anti-social. Regular day care often helps with training and owners regularly notice behavioural improvements.

Will you feed my Dog?

If your dog requires a meal during the day, we’re happy to feed them. Generally our adult guests do not have a lunchtime feed, just the pups. Owners provide their dog’s food, we only serve your dog the food you have supplied.

What are the benefits of doggy day care for my dog?

Enrolling your dog into doggy day care allows your dog to be cared for, stimulated and exercised when you are not available.

We have specifically designed and built our doggy day care facility to ensure it stimulates and entertains your pup or dog. Whether your best pal loves to run and play, or they prefer relaxing and cuddles, we have the facilities and space to accommodate them.

Can doggy day care help with separation anxiety?

Doggy Day Care at Acres 4 Dogs provides constant company and attention for your dog. There are also plenty of stimulation and exercise to keep your dog entertained. This can help reduce stress and anxiety generally.

What happens if my dog gets sick or injured at doggy day care?

Our response will depend on the urgency of the situation. We will call you and let you know.  If we are unable to make contact with you and your dog needs urgent attention, we will take them to our local vet with whom we are registered. We have multiple team members trained in canine first-aid.

How do I enrol my dog and what’s the pricing structure?

Please see our pricing page. If you’d like to enrol, please contact us and we can start the simple process.

What is your experience and pedigree (pun intended!)?

Acres 4 Dogs has been operating since 2010. The Company Founders, David and Ian still steer the ship, with a highly experienced management team and dog care team.

Are you Licensed and Insured?

Yes. Acres 4 Dogs holds a 5-star higher standard Animal Welfare License (ref: London Borough of Sutton, 24/00098/ANBOR) and is insured.

As of 2018 all Doggy Day Care providers in the UK are legally obliged to obtain a license.
