The History of Acres 4 Dogs

We have been running a local Doggie Day Care service since 2007 and established ourselves as Acres 4 Dogs in 2010. The team are all committed to providing the very best experience for your dog or pup. A permanent team creates the familiarity for you and your dog or puppy and the routine and the best possible care for your pal. We all are or were South West London locals,  in East Sheen, Putney and Wandsworth.  Very well known as part of the “dog community”, there’s every chance you’ll bump into one of us or the team at weekends in Richmond, Wandsworth or Wimbledon Parks, Barnes or Palewell Common or just out with the family or doing the local shop!

Ian – Director & Co-Founder – 2010 – Present

Although a Sussex man now, Ian was a Putney resident some 18 years, business owner and teaboy (ok ok – tea-senior!)

Life-long owner and breeder of (generally!) impeccably trained family dogs. From an incredibly dippy Mastiff (Missy) down to a rather aloof Daschund (Bruno), the delightful Lab, Olive and now Lab Retriever, Ronnie.

Creator and owner of The Waggery in Barnes (dog groomers, dog retail, puppy and dog daycare), Ian sold in 2011 to concentrate on creating the industry leading Acres 4 Dogs with David.

When not directing the Acres and living and breathing dogs you will invariably find Ian, his wife and kids hiking rural Sussex or even returning to charge around the parks and commons of South West London. Alternatively, you will find him in Majestic!

David – Director & Co-Founder – 2010 – Present

An East Sheen resident since 2005, business owner and lunch boy (his own!)

David and fam were the proud owners of, Percy – the incredibly sweet and quite possibly daftest cross-breed dog on the planet, until he sadly passed away with age in 2020, . David and family have recently welcomed lovable pup, Palmetto, into their lives.

David established Acres 4 Dogs with Ian in 2010, to fill the void in puppy and dog care cover, in doing so pioneering the service that is now ‘Doggy Day Care’, and most importantly, doing it right! Creating the initial standard for puppy and doggy day care and constantly improving it and investing.

Directing ‘The Acres’ by day and at all other times, with his wife, general skivvy to their daughter! David also hums and whistles a lot of Country tunes which isn’t remotely annoying!

James – Operations Director – 2022 – Present

A Wandsworth resident since 2018, joining the Acres board in 2022. Like a Labrador, he is happy just to be out in the open and is always ready for dinner.

Co-owner of many family dogs as a youngster, and with his partner, currently the proud owner of a Cypriot Hound called Mike (who is fortunate not to blow away with his extraordinary ears!).

After several years ‘working’ on Alpine ski slopes, James joined Acres 4 Dogs in 2019 as a Driver and Handler. James’ passion for excellence, hard work, and just being a thoroughly good chap, saw him quickly rise through the ranks, becoming a director in 3 short years and all the while getting his Level 3 Professional Daycare and Boarding credentials.

Overseeing the site during the week, at other times you will find him at live sports events, tinkering with classic cars or just enjoying an ice-cold beverage!
